Job Hunting Hardship

I do understand how strict the hospitals are when it comes to hiring nurses but holy macaroni, some are just OA!

This morning, I went to one hospital with my complete requirements. I have already prepared them the night before because I don’t want to get panicky once I am in HRD (Human Resource Department). When I came in in their office, there were two applicants before me. I heard they were hired already so I prayed hard that I’ll get lucky this time.

When it was my turn already, I gave the requirements to the officer in charge. He told me to attach the requirements with a fastener. I brought a fastener but what he was asking is to attach it horizontally (I attached the papers, vertically). He told me to come back as soon as I have attached it in the “required” way.

I went out of the hospital to look for a puncher. Unfortunately, the photocopy/xerox shops near the hospital don’t have a single puncher. So I decided to go to the nearest mall and just buy.

After thirty minutes of preparing what they asked me to do, I went back to their office looking so haggard. The guy I talked to asked me to pass it to the lady on the desk and so I followed. And then, as soon as she opened my folder, she told me to change the fastener I used. I used a metal fastener. She asked me to change it to a plastic one. “Nakakasugat kase yan.

I went out of the hospital again to look for a plastic fastener. Good thing that a certain sari-sari store near the hospital is selling school supplies. After I changed the fasteners, I went back to the office again (really sweaty. lol) and passed my requirements. I thought I am done already.

Your PNA card is outdated. 2008 na ngayon. 2007 yang card mo.” I was speechless. I wanted to tell her, “Ma’am, wala pa pong one year yang card ko. Papalitan ko na kaagad?” But I chose to stay quiet and just uttered, “Okay, ma’aam. Ifa-follow up ko na lang po.” And then, she asked me to sit first and just wait.

While waiting, I talked to some applicants after me. The other one just went in while the other one has the same experience like me. Haha. I thought I was the only one who experienced that!

After a couple of minutes, the HRD lady called me. I thought she’d tell me the schedule of my exam or whatsoever. I was wrong. “Miss De Vera, update your cedula. 2006 pa ito. 2008 na ngayon.” My goodness! This is the only hospital that questioned my cedula. And I swear, I didn’t know that we should change our cedula yearly. Hahaha! Stupid me. I asked if I could just follow it up. Sad to say, she told me to just come back with updated requirements.

What a bad day! I understand the strictness but hello, they are just extra requirements. I can actually follow it up. Why do some hospitals have to be so over-acting! Hahaha.

Anyways, I am not going to give up. This hospital is hiring so I’ll just be patient. We never know if I’ll get hired here, right? Hehe.
