Last Saturday, we watched Evan Almighty for the third time. Evan Baxter has this goal of changing the world and after he asked help from God, He told him to build an ark. If you want to change the world, start with an ARK - one Act of Random Kindness.
I’d like to share you something that I have read in Daily Bread last April 18 as promised in my previous post:
It is a lesson some of us have to learn over and over. We can’t change others but with God’s help we can change our own behavior. And when our attitude changes, it may seem as if others have changed as well.
At some point in our lives, we hated a person. We always say, “I hope she/he is like this and that,” or “I hope she or he will change!” Yes, I am guilty of it. When I was in college, I reprimanded a lot of my classmates. Haha! If I hated them because of their laziness, they hated me more for scolding them. In case you do not know, I was hated before for being a strict leader, almost a dictator. I know that I was only doing for us to get high grades but what I didn’t know is that I lead them in the wrong way. I tried to change their attitude because I really don’t like lazy people (until now) but no matter what I do, I just fail.
I thought that maybe there is something wrong with me, so I tried to lessen my cruelty, I mean, strictness. Lol. I tried to accept the fact that I can’t transform them into something that they are not - even if I knew that I was just doing everything for our group and for our grades. If they want to change, they can change voluntarily. So yeah, I was the one who changed. I promised myself to change into a better leader, and a better person.
It was indeed a good feeling! I also felt the pressure on my part was lessened. It really did cause a positive outcome on my part. They might haven’t changed into something that I’ve always wanted them to be but it’s the way that I see them as an individual that did. And it’s cool.
Since then, every time I get mad or what, first thing I do is rant - which is a normal reaction - and second, let it go, calm myself and go on with my beautiful life. Hehe!
If you really want to have a CHANGE in the world you live in, stop complaining about the people around you or prolly just lessen it if you can’t stop it. If you want a change, start with yourself. Reflect… And I assure you, you’ll see the beauty of life that I am talking about.
