Happy Birthday, Papa!
filed under Reflections with

Finally, my blog is transferred into a new host though my pages aren’t working yet. So please bear with me while I am fixing this boring online journal of mine. Now let’s move on…

Last Monday, my mom received a bad news. My uncle-in-law died. I don’t know what the cause is but my mom told me that he was an alcoholic so most probably, Mr. Alcohol killed him. When I learned about the news, the first thing that popped in my head was, “Paano na mga pinsan ko?” Their parents are separated. My aunt has a new family and my cousins live in my other aunt. They weren’t really raised up by their real parents. Okay, I don’t wanna say everything about their background but to cut the story short, my cousins didn’t grow up with a life like ours (me and my siblings).

My mom and dad went to the wake last night and this morning, my mom told stories about their visit. She told me that my cousins cried so hard when they saw their father lying on that coffin. I pitied my cousins upon hearing my mom’s stories. I know how unfortunate they were. If only I could help them…

I am thankful that my dad is still with us. He still works hard for our future although sometimes, I feel ashamed of myself because I haven’t found a job for two freaking years. You know that I always wanted to make my dad (and mom) proud. Sometimes, I throw tantrums like a toddler whenever he gets mad at me because he thinks I am not doing something for my future. Behind those tantrums are my hidden depression and frustrations of not being able to give them another achievement. I just wanted them to be happy and so proud of me, you know.

My parents and my siblings are my inspiration. They are the reason why I stand up every time I fall. They are the reason why I am still strong despite the failures and downfall.

My dad is celebrating his 51st birthday on the 18th. I asked him what does he want for his birthday. And you know what he replied? “May pera ka ba?!” Hahaha! Oh well, I just bought him his favorite food. Lots of hopia, hopia, hopia! Haha! Request granted, papa!

My wish for my dad is good health. We all know that when a person gets older, he or she is more prone to diseases. I don’t want him (and my mom) to leave us yet. I want them to be there for us until we can finally stand up on our own. I want them to see me walking on the aisle on my wedding day, and raising up my own kids like how they raised us up,

Oh well. This entry makes me cry. Let’s just all value our parents. Always remember, you can not find another parent. You only have one parent so love them with all your heart and make them happy while they are still there beside you. You never know when God will take their lives away.
