Of breaking records
filed under Concerned Citizen, Rants with

You know, I just don’t get it why Filipinos are into breaking records. I honestly do not know the rationale behind that so-called Filipino craze. I mean, what does it do to our country, to our economy? I just really don’t get it so please if you have a kind heart, can you explain it to me?

The other night, I have seen this news on TV about people making a very big brownie. I was like, “What?! Again?!” When you first see the product, of course, you will be amazed and I bet you will crave too. But have you ever thought that maybe there is something much more productive than making a very, very big brownie just to break a record?

You know what I am thinking? They could have bought sacks of rice and donated and divided it for the poor. We have this issue of rice scarcity; we have fellow citizens who do not eat three times a day, because of what? Because they don’t have the money to buy, or in case they have the money, it’s just not adequate because of the increasing prices in the market. How much did they spend for that chocolate ingredient? Maybe they could have bought a sack of rice instead of that pricey chocolate mixture. You get what I mean?

I am not really against getting in in the Guinness Book of Records. But I wish Filipino people should prioritize more the problems here in our country before spending so much money just to get known for having the most number of records broke.

Ha ha! True. We Filipinos can be too concerned about our image. Sometimes we care about it more than we do about real issues and being relevant.

Kaya nga eh. Masmagandang unahin nila yun problema dito. Pwede naman maki-guiness eh pero kung maskailangang iprioritize yun isang bagay, dapat yun muna.

Hahaha, tama. I think our country will be more productive if we have the care & concern for things that matter the most :] Pero on the other hand, I think the breaking the record thing is fine. Ang mga Pinoys kase pasikat eh :)) Pero kahit ganun tayo, sumisikat naman tayo in our own way….. :) Sa ngayon hayaan na lang natin muna silang gumawa ng malaking BROWNIE :)) Pag tapos na nila yun gawin (at kainin), sana maalala nila ang Pinas :)

Don’t forget na wheat is expensive too. Hindi lang yung chocolate niya.

Our society seems to be more image-conscious than ‘problem conscious’(being concerned about the problems that the society is facing). Longest kiss, longest longganisa, biggest shoe,…wtf. We’re bothered creating more ‘biggest’ ‘longgest’ [adjective]+est rather than shaping the future of this country and the people.

Sad no? Ang baba ng ‘impression happiness’ natin. It’s ridiculously low.

BTW, do you have multiply account? I would like to add you sana if you have

Ay oo nga. Yun mga other ingredients pa.

I think dapat ang “hinuhulma” natin is yung image natin with a strong economy not yung image natin because of creativity, etc. Yes, okay din yun latter pero sabi ko nga priority dapat yun mga problems muna.

Sobrang nakakasad for those na affected ng poverty.

The Philippines has the third biggest mall in the world… and, unfortunately, it also has a pretty high poverty rate and not enough hospitals per capita. :(

I totally get your point. I haven’t heard the news though of that brownie. Haha. But yeah, with people who are starving, I guess it is better if they try to find solutions to help people out of poverty rather than trying to break records. Like duh. Some country can always beat them if they want to, then all efforts would just be in vain.

I agree with what you wrote. Bakit hindi sila marunong magprioritize? :( Sayang talaga ginastos nila. Pwede sana mapakain yung mga homeless people. Sana kahit papano binigyan nila ng brownies ang mga kids sa RSCC.

You know, I also remember hearing a news on the radio tungkol sa nasayang na vaccines dahil expired na. I think it was worth a million pesos. :( Nakakainis because sa laki ng halaga na to, dami nang matutulungan pero dahil sa kapabayaan ng iba, ganun nangyari. :(

I really enjoyed your blog posts Ate Xyla. ^___^ I’m a nursing student so I learned many things from you blog. I see that you are from FEU. Some of my friends transferred from FEU. :) Thanks for visiting my blog too and commenting.
