Youngblood
Two days ago, we went to the mall to buy some stuffs. I am so happy that my mom bought me a new pair of skinny jeans from F&H and the book I have always wanted to have – Youngblood. Youngblood is a portion in the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s opinion/commentary section every Thursday. Anyone can send articles there. If the staff likes it, you would see your work on a very lucky Thursday of yours.
I’ve been a fan of Youngblood ever since my parents subscribed for the said newspaper and I got really sad when they stopped their subscription for we had some financial problems before so they had to lessen the bills they had to pay. I got sad because I won’t be able to read Youngblood anymore. So a year ago, I discovered that the articles (the best articles, I guess) are compiled into one book. I was happy as soon as I found that book because at least, I would be able to read the articles that I missed.
It was only yesterday that I grabbed my own copy due to my tight budget for the past 12 months. LOL. I still have 3 more Youngblood compilation-books to buy though.
Someday, I’ll see my article printed in that corner of the commentary section. I can imagine reading it on the dining table while drinking a hot Swiss Miss chocolate in a beautiful Thursday morning.
I have been aiming to send an article to Youngblood since I began writing. Ever since one of my articles was published in a teen magazine, my hopes of seeing my own work in Youngblood heightened.
Now, all I have to do is to find an inspiration for an article which I am about to write and to send…

My name is Xyla, a 24-year-old Filipina unemployed registered nurse. I am a freelance writer for a nursing magazine of a review center. I aim to be a nurse leader in the future. With only 12 units left in my Master's Degree (Major in Medical-Surgical Nursing), I am ready to teach nursing students. During my past time, I kill Zombies, plant Cherry Bombs, Marigold and Melon Pult and make cheesy stuff for my boyfriend. I firmly justify that I am not too old for Glee-addiction. I hate prepositions. They make my life complicated.

Hmmm parang gusto ko basahin yung book. :P I’m not fan of reading but I think this one is cool and worth it to read. hahaha :)

Undoubtedly, you would be able to reach tat dream (: isn’t it nice when your articles are being published and being read by people? It’s not the prestige, after all. It’s the fact that you can touch people’s lives or simply share your knowledge / ideas to others.
Continue writing, Xy (: Keep sharing your wonderful ideas to everyone.

I also made it to Youngblood once. Remember “Why teach?”
Just keep sending. Write then send. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t. But if it does, it does. As simple as that.
