Happy New Year!
Happy and blessed 2009 to all of you. :) So how did you guys celebrate your new year? I’d love to read your comments.
Actually, I do not know if this is really a happy new year for our family. It’s because we received a bad news from my aunts. Tatay, papa’s father1, had a not-so-good ultrasound result. He needs to undergo more tests to confirm the results. He’s diabetic and he’s having a lot of complications.
As a nurse, it’s already normal for me to hear such cases. I have handled so many diabetic patients when I was a student and a trainee. So when I heard about the news, I automatically discussed the pathophysiology of the result to my parents. It was hard explaining them in layman’s term.
As a grand daughter, I felt sad, of course. Who wouldn’t, right? Although I am not very close to my grand father2, I still worry about his health.
But as the daughter of my grandfather’s first son, I am more of concerned. My father only lost two significant people in his life: his aunt3, who gave our 2 houses, and his grandmother4, who raised him up and sent him to school until he earned his degree. Nothing’s permanent in this world. I’m a nurse. With those diagnoses5, I know where this is leading to. I really hope that papa would face this challenge in his life and his family with strong faith in God.
I badly need your prayers for my grandfather and for our family.
On a lighter note, I made a quote for myself. It’s like a goal that I really, really have to achieve this year.

Tough, huh.

With only 12 units left in my Master's Degree (Major in Medical-Surgical Nursing), I am ready to teach nursing students. I hate prepositions. They make my life complicated.

Oo naman you’ll for sure succeed, hindi lang this year pati pa sa mga susunod na taon

I suggest that you look at it as a challenge instead of bad news. It will be a little bit easier, ate. Just be happy that you’re are able to meet him. Diba nga yung iba lumalaki ng wala yung lola nila or yung parents nila in the case naman of your grandpa and dad. :) Happy New Year.

I hope your lolo gets well soon. I’ll include him in my prayers.
I love your quote, bru! Sooooo positive. Which reminds me that we have to be positive in everything. Have a great 2009, bru!

Awww… well I hope he’ll be okay. I hope it’s nothing serious… You know how diabetics are. As long as he’s really careful, diabetes is pretty manageable.
I went to the casino with my sister, her boyfriend and my friends Nick and Robin last night. We tried to speed to my house before midnight but we ended up spending New Year’s Eve on the road! lol. Then, we got to my house and drank champagne while singing karaoke and dancing. Then we drank some more. And more. And more… lol. What about you??
